The Black Gypsy, Ameer: Returns to L.A.

Nevada has had it’s share of political influences from Washington, particularly Congress and the White House. As a leader in Congress, Harry Reid has been placed in a very peculiar position by balancing the landscape associated with the Las Vegas Strip, while watching Washington wrestle with e-commerce associated with the internet.

In the last 5 to 10 years, I, Ameer Flippin, have lived in Los Angeles, Memphis, Columbus, Boston, San Francisco, Las Vegas and now back to Los Angeles to ensure a couple of kids make it to college. After spending over 7 years as a stockbroker and financial advisor straight out of college, I made an effort to become submerged in productive collegiate academic environments all while keeping Washington off of my back.

In my subtle successes with the internet, I found myself amongst a group of internet guys worried about the technology outpacing the unwritten laws harnessing the net. I continue struggling to insure that I don’t get caught up in an “accounting fraud case” setting precedence in the federal courts, similar to the “World Com” case.

My only means of protection have become my “simple words” and writing in an intuitive manner which alerts political figures to my understanding of the laws and the judicial system, while running interference with less confrontational case law.

I’m not sure Washington will ever get it’s hands around the rapidly changing internet and the e-commerce associated with capital moving over the net, globally. It could be 10 to 20 years before we really see any changes in Washington’s policy.

I encourage the leaders of Nevada to continue finding new and creative ways to grow the local economy, while focusing on the new and emerging sectors associated with mobile and internet content.
